Everyone was super friendly and made me feel very comfortable. The space was clean and calming. Dylan was my artist and used my inspiration photo as a jumping off point and created something perfect for me. I was thrilled with the result and can't wait for my next appointment.

I've been tattooed by Jess a few times now and I honestly can't wait to get more! Jess is super professional and personable and makes the experience so calming and enjoyable. i’ve been tattooed a lot at a ton of different places and I will say that there is nowhere else. I’ll be spending my money. Thank you for the beautiful art and experiences Jess!

I received a tattoo here on Thursday evening. The experience was not something I would have ever imagined going through from what is supposed to be a reputable tattoo shop. With so many issues that happened I would like to highlight the main points. I was tattooed by a “junior artist” as stated AFTER the fact by the owner Jess. I was not made aware before hand this artist ,who was a guest spot Chloe, was any kind of junior artist. I was told by Jess the owner after hours of ridiculous back and forth this afternoon that it was my responsibility to check to see who was tattooing me and if I did not like their work I should have declined. Well if I had been made aware prior to my arrival at True Gloom I absolutely would have looked up my artist and I absolutely would have declined the service. I absolutely would have declined the service if I was also made aware that Chloe was a junior artist. Jess proceeded to attempt to gaslight me into thinking this was my responsibility when i declined her offer of a free leg sleeve or a free session with her. Because as someone with 40+ tattoos, why would i trust the judgment of someone who insists this tattoo is acceptable? Jess proceeded to go on a long diatribe about another tattoo artist who I know and trust very well when it had no bearing on anything I was speaking to her about other than the fact I wanted him to cover the tattoo. I requested True Gloom bear some of the financial responsibility of what it will cost to cover the piece. Jess declined this as she does not want to support someone (my regular tattoo artist) does not support her. Jess attempted to strong arm me into coming back to True Gloom to have her cover it and that was my only option as she did not feel her establishment was responsible for this issue. The fact of the matter is I received a horrible tattoo. Deflection and lack of accountability from the owner other than the length of time it took to receive such a bad tattoo. I was told that this was my fault for not doing my due diligence even though when you contact the shop for a walk in they do not give you any artist information until you are filling out your paperwork. Chloe was NOT licensed in Erie County or even in NYS at all. Jess basically said Virginia requirements are more than what Erie County requires. I don’t believe that is the point. The point is I was tattooed by an UNLICENSED artist in this tattoo shop. Was not made aware of this. Was not made aware of her junior artist title. I certainly did not think the situation would end up this way. The only saving grace is I did not pay for this tattoo but I don’t believe anyone would have paid for this tattoo. I do believe the situation could have been rectified easily as I do not feel it was an outlandish request of me to ask them to cover the cost of a coverup due to the time it will take. The pain it will be to go over something so big and dark as there was an unlicensed junior artist from a completely different state working for them. Hopefully this is not something that will happen to anyone else. EDIT: Monday April 14th 2025 (4days post tattoo) I have also had to receive medical treatment and antibiotics for an infection with this tattoo.

I have many tattoos from Carley- I think at least ten now! This shop feels like home to me. Everyone here is sweet, kind, and talented. I also have permanent jewelry from Mel which I adore. I get compliments all day on both my jewelry when visible and my tattoos, and I really owe it to this shop for seeing the vision of what I want, and applying it to me. All the other artists are talented too, and I’m looking forward to getting work done from them in the future as well! I also have some art in my home from Graham, Carley, and Jess, as well as some merch which is all super comfortable. If there’s a service they provide, they give it 110% every time.

Jess is phenomenal and always accommodating and super kind, she cares deeply about her work and her space and it shows, Mel at the front desk is a superhero and beyond easy to schedule/work with. Great folks, great space to get tattooed.
