Surf's Up Beach Shop Introduce

For local users and tourists in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, seeking beach-themed clothing and souvenirs, Surf's Up Beach Shop, located at 1105 N Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, USA, is one of the retail options available. While the platform category is "Tattoo Shops Near Me," this introduction will focus on Surf's Up Beach Shop as a clothing and souvenir store, based on the information provided. The store can be contacted at (843) 946-0889 or their mobile number +1 843-946-0889. However, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding customer service and pricing transparency, which potential shoppers should be aware of.

One detailed review recounts a deeply negative experience involving a misunderstanding over a keychain and a subsequent false accusation of theft. A couple visiting Myrtle Beach for their anniversary browsed the shop, considering purchasing zip-up hoodies and keychains. The wife looked at a key-shaped keychain with a hidden knife but ultimately chose a less expensive one, and they decided to explore other stores before making a final purchase. Upon returning to Surf's Up Beach Shop to buy a pair of shorts the husband liked, they were allegedly met with "shocking and appalling behavior" from a male employee. The husband overheard the employee falsely accusing his wife of stealing the key keychain to a coworker. When the couple returned to confront the employee about this baseless accusation, they were met with aggression and further false claims, including the employee stating he had "checked the cameras" and that his experience told him she was stealing. The employee reportedly became agitated, raised his voice, interrupted them, and demanded they leave, despite the couple's attempt to explain why they would return if they had stolen something. This deeply insulting interaction reportedly ruined the couple's first impression of Myrtle Beach and their anniversary trip, leaving them feeling angry and prompting them to strongly advise others to be cautious when entering the store.

Another review echoes a similarly negative sentiment, labeling the store as "TOTAL SCAMMERS!!!" This customer details an experience involving their daughter's ear piercing. They were allegedly quoted a price of $25 by one employee but were charged $56 at the register. When questioning the discrepancy, they were told the additional $31 was tax, which the reviewer found implausible. Another employee then stated the $25 quote was "for each earring," despite the customer asking the price to have her "earS pierced." The customer felt this was misleading and that the pricing should have been stated upfront. They express anger at not researching the store beforehand and advise others against getting hair done, ears pierced, or henna done there, giving the store a zero-star rating (despite having to give one to write the review) and labeling their practices as "DESPICABLE!!!"

Based on these two recent customer reviews, several significant concerns arise regarding Surf's Up Beach Shop:

  • **False Accusations of Theft:** One customer was falsely and aggressively accused of theft by a male employee, leading to a deeply negative and insulting experience.
  • **Misleading Pricing Practices:** Another customer reports being quoted one price for a service (ear piercing) and then charged significantly more at checkout with a seemingly unreasonable explanation for the difference.
  • **Poor Customer Service:** Both reviews highlight instances of unacceptable customer service, including aggressive behavior, false accusations, and a lack of transparency in pricing.
  • **Potentially Dishonest Business Practices:** The strong accusations of "scammers" and misleading pricing suggest potential issues with the store's ethical conduct.
  • **Negative Impact on Tourist Experience:** The false accusation incident reportedly ruined a couple's anniversary trip and first impression of Myrtle Beach, indicating a significant failure in customer relations.

Given these serious allegations and negative experiences, it is challenging to objectively highlight positive aspects of Surf's Up Beach Shop based solely on this information. The reviews do not provide any details about the store's environment in a positive light, nor do they mention any specific features or services that would typically be attractive to customers. Instead, the focus is entirely on negative interactions and perceived dishonest practices.

It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not be representative of every interaction at Surf's Up Beach Shop. However, the severity of the issues raised, particularly the false accusation of theft and the misleading pricing, warrants significant caution for potential customers. When choosing a place to shop, especially in a tourist area, customers generally expect fair treatment, transparent pricing, and a welcoming atmosphere. The experiences detailed in these reviews suggest a significant departure from these expectations at Surf's Up Beach Shop.

As there is no mention of any promotional information in the provided text, it is impossible to comment on any potential deals or discounts offered by Surf's Up Beach Shop. In light of the negative feedback, any potential promotions would likely be overshadowed by the concerns raised about the store's customer service and business practices.

For local users and tourists searching for clothing or souvenir shops in Myrtle Beach, particularly within the context of "Tattoo Shops Near Me" (which might indicate a broader search for local businesses), the experiences shared by these reviewers serve as a strong warning. Potential shoppers may want to exercise extreme caution and consider seeking alternative establishments with more positive and reliable customer feedback to ensure a pleasant and fair shopping experience.

In conclusion, based on the available customer reviews, Surf's Up Beach Shop at 1105 N Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach appears to have significant issues regarding customer service and pricing transparency. The allegations of false accusation of theft and misleading pricing are deeply concerning and should give potential customers pause. While the store may offer a variety of beach-themed clothing and souvenirs, the negative experiences reported suggest a high risk of encountering unprofessional or even dishonest practices. Local users and tourists are strongly advised to consider these reviews carefully before deciding to shop at Surf's Up Beach Shop and may want to explore other, more favorably reviewed options in the Myrtle Beach area.

My wife and I are visiting Myrtle Beach for our anniversary and had the misfortune of stepping into this particular shop. We were browsing for zip-up hoodies and keychains, intending to make purchases. My wife looked at a key shaped keychain with a hidden knife but opted for a less expensive one. We decided to check out other stores before committing. Upon returning to this shop to purchase a pair of shorts I liked, we were met with shocking and appalling behavior from one of the male employees. I clearly overheard him telling his coworker, "I know she stole that key keychain," referring directly to my wife. This accusation was baseless and offensive, as we had simply decided not to purchase it at that time. We would never steal anything. Despite my wife wanting to avoid confrontation, and initially deciding we should leave, I was so upset by this false accusation that we returned to confront him. My wife politely said “I would like to talk to you," only to be immediately met with the employee's aggressive and accusatory tone. He doubled down on his false claim, stating, "I'd like to talk to you too, I know you stole," adding that he had "checked the cameras" and that his supposed years of experience allowed him to know when someone was stealing. The absolute absurdity of his accusation, given that we voluntarily returned to the store to confront him, completely went over his head. Why would we return if we stole? When we pointed this out, he became even more agitated, raising his voice, constantly interrupting us, and demanding we leave his "private property." Despite our attempts to explain, he remained insistent and accusatory, repeatedly claiming he "saw it on camera." This entire interaction was not only deeply insulting but also completely ruined our first impression of Myrtle Beach and our anniversary trip. To be falsely accused of theft in such a manner is unacceptable and reflects poorly on this establishment. We left feeling very angry. We strongly advise others to be cautious when entering this store. No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect and to be falsely accused of a crime, especially while on a celebratory vacation. This experience was a nightmare and has left a lasting negative impression of what should have been a special occasion. We will certainly be sharing our experience widely. This man will get his karma.

*DON'T GO HERE!! TOTAL SCAMMERS!!!*** I, too, wish I would have read the reviews on this place before going. Got my daughter's ears pierced. Asked how much, and the woman told me $25. When we paid, the total was 56. The other gal said that was the tax. There was no way tax was $31...I relayed that I was told by the other woman that it was $25. She looked at me and said, "$25 for each earing". Well, I asked how much it was to have her earS pierced, not ear...I told them that was misleading and they shouldve said that upfront. DEFINITELY crooks and scammers - they know exactly what they are doing, and I'm so mad I didn't do any research on this place prior. Don't get your hair done, ears pierced, or henna done their. I give them 0 stars...had to give them a star to write a review, though. DESPICABLE!!!

This place is ran by crooks who know exactly what they are doing. My daughter who is 16 wanted a henna tattoo she was paying for with her own money so we stopped here she picked the picture she wanted and they told her the price was $10 and up she got a hand tattoo. When she went to pay it was $213 I thought we must have heard the price wrong so she repeated I asked how that was possible and she said it was considered extra large tattoo(even though it was only a hand tattoo) and when I asked why they would see what she wanted and tell her it was $10 and up knowing it was going to be over $200 they said she should’ve known. It took about 15 minutes. They took complete advantage of her we will never make this mistake again. I wish I had read reviews first.

Definitely entertaining for my grandson. Wish they’d hide some of these things. Prices were decent for the beach.

I was able to pick my own font for the FRONT of the sweatshirt. When we get back to our hotel 3 HOURS AWAY , so excited to wear it, took it out of the bag and realized they put it on the BACK. So disappointed. Worthless piece of clothing now. You can’t even see it when I’m wearing it since the hood hangs down.
