Sunrise Tattoo and its artists offer a calm, bright and all around good vibes atmosphere! Zane has created five beautiful tattoos for me and he’s as kind a human as he is a talented artist! Ryan has also created an incredible piece for me and while their styles are different, they do them extremely well! 12/10 always recommend!

I’ve been getting tattooed by Zane since 2020. He has created such an awesome, welcoming place with Sunrise Tattoo in Nashville. The shop is always clean and has an artsy but cozy atmosphere. All of the artists are friendly, and the genuine camaraderie in the shop makes it an even nicer place to spend a few hours. I’ve had 8 pieces done by Zane. He is always psyched about my ideas, and I am always excited to see what he puts together on appointment day. His kind attitude, attentiveness, and approachability makes him a dream tattoo artist. I always feel comfortable asking questions or requesting changes. I know I’m in good hands from the time we book the appointment until I walk out with that fresh piece! I moved away from Nashville a few years ago, and I still make the two hour trip whenever I want to get work done because Zane is that good. Looking forward to seeing the expanded Sunrise soon!

I got a tattoo here by Zane, who is an extremely experienced artist. I went through the process correctly, by filling out a consultation form months in advance, submitting pictures of my arm where I wanted the tattoo to be placed, and also submitting reference photos. Zane is so experienced with tattooing that he could have done whatever I wanted, but instead he chose to do whatever he wanted. I tried to be very careful and selective about this particular piece because I already had 4 other tattoos on my arm by all different artists. I wanted a piece that would tie everything together and make my arm look coherent. I specifically asked for the snake Zane drew to be proportional to other tattoos I had on my arm. Zane wanted to look at my arm and promised that he could match the line work of at least one of the other artists. He did not match any line work at all, and instead gave me a disproportionately large tattoo compared to all my others. He has finer linework on his Instagram portfolio so there was no reason he had to do a giant traditional tattoo with big lines. It seems to me like he wanted his piece to stand out and be the biggest on my arm. Everything would possibly have been ok in the end result if he would have just made it a little bit smaller, with thinner lines and just a bit more detail. Like I said, I believe he made it bigger for a reason. I have a tiger on my arm and for some reason he wanted the snake to be bigger than the tiger I already have, which really doesn’t make sense to me or anyone I’ve discussed this with. I feel very unsettled by this process and it feels more like I was branded than getting a piece of unique art on my body. He gave me a huge traditional tattoo that does not match anything else and I believe he did this intentionally out of ego. It was a very strange process working with him and I just want to let prospective clients know that he is going to do what he wants to do in a bit of a narcissistic way. despite his expertise and talent he sabotaged my arm. I am the one who has to live with this until I die, and he will go on unaffected. He seemed disconnected from his work and I don’t think he puts individual thought and consideration into his pieces. I truly believe he just threw on the most basic traditional tattoo and now I look like I’m in a motorcycle g*ng. It’s a very hyper masculine tattoo as well which is not what I wanted at all. It’s truly devastating for me. I will now forever have a giant traditional snake by Zane Pendergast on my arm. It really feels like Zane just had to make his piece so huge because he wants to be the star of my arm or something. He actually just messed everything up and caused me permanent emotional and mental stress. It doesn’t matter how much detail you put into your consultation, Zane is gonna do what he wants to do. He put a massive tattoo on my arm and I truly believe he wanted his piece to stand out the most, when I was looking for a coherent piece. This is a shop for flash tattoos, and it should stay that way. These are not custom or well thought out tattoos at all. Don’t waste your time gathering reference photos and typing out all the specifics of what you want. Your opinion does not matter and will not be honored. It was very condescending and disrespectful that Zane didn’t even bother to ask what style of tattoo I wanted, or offer different sizing options. He clearly does work outside of traditional and none of my reference photos were traditional tattoos. So he either should have been forthright and told me he could not provide what I wanted, or he should have done something different. I actually don’t really like traditional tattoos and did not want anymore on my body. Now I have a giant one, which could have easily been prevented with proper care and communication. I am truly scarred by this experience. I feel extremely gaslit and mentally exhausted and confused. Zane may try to gaslight or guilt trip me further after this review, but there’s really nothing to be said. This is something that only I have to live and die with.
