Personal Art Studio Introduce

For individuals in Cumberland, Maryland, and the surrounding areas searching within the "Tattoo Shops Near Me" category, Personal Art Studio, located at 12503 McMullen Hwy SW, Cumberland, MD 21502, USA, offers both tattoo and piercing services. They can be contacted at phone number (301) 729-8282 or mobile phone +1 301-729-8282. Customer reviews present a mixed picture of the services provided, with positive feedback regarding tattoo work and significant negative feedback concerning piercing services.

On the tattoo side, one customer shared a highly positive experience from several years ago when they, along with their sister and a friend, visited Personal Art Studio without an appointment. This reviewer specifically sought a cover-up for a home tattoo and praised the artist for being "very friendly, patient, and helpful" in explaining suitable designs. The reviewer was extremely satisfied with the outcome, stating that the tattoo was covered "beautifully" and that it was impossible to tell it was a cover-up. Furthermore, all three individuals received tattoos that were done "quickly and perfectly" and had maintained their quality and color over five years, even with sun exposure. The reviewer also noted that the artists were "friendly and professional the entire time," worked efficiently without rushing, and demonstrated "great attention to detail." Based on this account, Personal Art Studio appears to have at least one skilled tattoo artist capable of providing excellent cover-up work and delivering high-quality tattoos with lasting results.

However, the experience shared by another customer regarding piercing services at Personal Art Studio stands in stark contrast. This individual received two lip piercings, and their account details a series of significant issues. The piercer allegedly used starter bars that were too short and too thick, which was only identified as incorrect later by another piercer. Shortly after the procedure, the piercings became severely swollen, causing extreme pain and preventing the customer from eating. Despite following the provided aftercare instructions, one piercing was pushed out by the swelling, and the other began to cut into the skin of the lip due to the tightness of the bar.

The attempt to remove the problematic piercing bar proved to be severely difficult. The customer was unable to unscrew it, even after consulting instructions. Eventually, a visit to the emergency room was required, where a doctor and nurse had to physically restrain the screaming patient while the bar was cut off with pliers. It was then discovered that the bar had been cross-threaded, which was the reason for the inability to unscrew it. The customer incurred a hospital bill as a direct result of this complication, which they attributed to the piercer's negligence in using an inappropriately sized bar and improperly inserting it.

Following this traumatic experience, the customer attempted to resolve the issue with the piercer and his mother, who also worked at the shop. The customer had initially paid for four piercings but only received two (which had already healed over due to the complications). They sought a refund for the two unused piercings. However, the piercer's mother initially offered a significantly lower refund than what the customer believed they were owed based on text messages from the piercer. Despite explaining this discrepancy, the mother refused to provide a full refund, claiming the piercer was an "independent contractor" and that she did not have the funds, contradicting her initial offer. She also suggested redoing the problematic piercings, which the customer understandably declined after their ordeal.

Furthermore, the mother allegedly disputed the customer's account of needing emergency room intervention, suggesting they had been turning the piercing the wrong way and that the swelling was due to improper aftercare, despite the customer's adherence to the given instructions and the doctor's finding of a cross-threaded bar. The customer eventually received half of their money back but was denied any further refund, with the mother reportedly blaming them for the complications. This account paints a concerning picture of the piercing services at Personal Art Studio, including potential issues with piercer competency, aftercare advice, and customer service when problems arise.

Based on these reviews, the environment at Personal Art Studio appears to be one where at least one tattoo artist provides high-quality work and positive customer interactions. However, the piercing services seem to be associated with significant risks and potentially inadequate practices. The discrepancy in the quality of services is a crucial point for potential clients to consider.

The services offered at Personal Art Studio include both tattooing and piercing. The positive tattoo review mentions cover-ups and general tattoo work, with attention to detail and lasting results. The negative piercing review details lip piercings, indicating that this type of service is also available. However, the quality and safety of the piercing services are seriously called into question by the detailed negative account.

Features of Personal Art Studio, as gleaned from the reviews, include friendly and professional tattoo artists who are willing to work with clients on cover-ups and provide guidance on designs. On the other hand, a significant negative feature associated with the piercing service is the potential for improperly sized jewelry, incorrect insertion, and inadequate aftercare advice, leading to severe complications and poor customer service in resolving issues.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Potential clients interested in any discounts or special offers should contact Personal Art Studio directly.

In conclusion, Personal Art Studio in Cumberland, MD, offers both tattoo and piercing services. While there is positive feedback regarding the quality of tattoo work, particularly cover-ups, there is a deeply concerning account of a severely negative experience with lip piercings, including the use of inappropriate jewelry, incorrect insertion, a medical emergency requiring hospital intervention, and unsatisfactory handling of the issue by the studio management. For local users searching within "Tattoo Shops Near Me," Personal Art Studio presents a stark contrast in service quality. Individuals considering tattoos may find skilled artists, but those considering piercings should exercise extreme caution and carefully weigh the risks based on the detailed negative review. It is strongly recommended that anyone considering services at Personal Art Studio conduct thorough research, ask detailed questions about the artists' qualifications and experience (especially for piercings), inquire about hygiene and safety protocols, and consider seeking services elsewhere, particularly for piercings, given the serious complications reported.

Several years ago, my sister, her friend and I went here for tattoos. I had never been to this shop before and none of us had an appointment. I decided to get a home tattoo covered up. The artist was very friendly, patient, and helpful in explaining what types of designs would be best for a cover up. The tattoos on all 3 of us were done quickly and perfectly. The tattoo covered beautifully, you can't tell it was a cover up. They all looked great, and still do more than 5 years later. My tattoo still has great color even though it does get a good bit of sun in the summer. The artists were friendly and professional the entire time. They both worked quickly without making us feel rushed and showed great attention to detail. I had a great experience going here and would recommend it to anyone.

I got two piercings in my lip done here. While they were being done I was told by the piercer that he would be putting in starter bars to accommodate the swelling (I went to another piercer after all this and he said that what I was given weren’t starter bars; they were too short and too thick). We got home and on closer inspection the piercings were crooked. I was told it was because of swelling (it’s been a month, the piercings are gone and it’s still visible crooked). They quickly started swelling and by day three I couldn’t eat anything because of it. This was despite following the after care instructions I was given. The next day the swelling had gotten so bad that the one piercing was pushed out. It was around then that the second piercing began to cut deep in the skin of my lip. After examining the bar that fell out we noticed that it was incredibly short and clearly wasn’t long enough to handle the swelling. The side of my mouth without the bar decreased in size while the other continued to swell from the tightness of the bar. I decided to remove the bar but it wouldn’t budge. I even looked up directions on how to remove them that included pictures to make sure I was turning the right way (and I was). Finally we drove to the ER. When we were let in a doctor first tried to twist the ball off with his hands and then went in with pliers to try and remove it. Still no luck. Finally, they realized the only way to get it off was to cut through it. The process of cutting through the bar was so painful that the doctor and a male nurse had to hold me down while I screamed from the pain. When they removed it the doctor realized that it had been cross threaded and that’s why it wouldn’t unscrew. Because of the piercer’s negligence of putting in a bar that was too short and incompetence of screwing it on sideways, I now have a hospital bill. The piercer told us to meet him at the shop on Saturday before 4. I was supposed to get four piercings from him and had initially paid for all four the first day. We planned on getting our money back from him for the two I didn’t get (an important note is that the two I did get were already healed over by then so I don’t even have the two I paid for). We arrived at 3:28 and he wasn’t there. His mother who also worked at the shop was. We handed her the receipt that says we paid $100 for 4 piercings. She said each piercing was $40 and that she’d give us $20 back. I have texts from the piercer showing that that wasn’t the case and after explaining that to her she straight up refused to give me my money, saying that the guy who did it was an “independent contractor” and that she didn’t have it (even though that wasn’t the case when she offered me $20). She also said she’d redo the two I had done as if after everything I had went through I would have wanted the people there to do it again. After being told that I had to go to the ER to have it removed she said that I must have been turning it the wrong way and began to tell me how to turn it the way I had been trying. We said we did do that and so did the doctor, but it was cross threaded. She said she could have gotten off without pliers and then said that the swelling was probably happing because I wasn’t following their aftercare instructions, which I was. To add insult to injury I’m now going to have two scars under my lip. I was finally able to get half my money back but the woman their says she won’t give me any more back and that it was my fault for not taking care of it. Yeah, it sure looks like it’s my fault.

Had my first tattoo done here by the owners son then by Mary when he didn’t show up to finish. The first time on the leg was ok but then the next time he scared the side of me from hip to rib and left huge unfinished lines, the third time Mary finished it but I left crying it was so ugly and uneven. I went to another shop and had them ‘fix’ what they could and he used heavy black lines, but for 4 years I had to hide my entire right side from my knee to my shoulder. I stopped modeling and was terrified to get another. Thankful I found Jessica at tattoo neavu to make it wonderful! I also had some piercings done by Mary which were not straight and had to be removed only now they closed and it will be to painful to get redone :(
