Mean Street Tattoo Introduce

For local users in Wood River, Illinois, seeking body art services under the category "Tattoo Shops Near Me," Mean Street Tattoo is located at 153 E Ferguson Ave, Wood River, IL 62095, USA. They can be contacted at (618) 216-2534 or their mobile number +1 618-216-2534. Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at Mean Street Tattoo appear to be varied, with some customers reporting significant issues while others have had positive experiences.

Regarding the environment of Mean Street Tattoo, one reviewer stated that "the place does seem pretty sterile," which is a positive aspect concerning hygiene and safety. However, this was the only explicitly positive comment about the environment from the provided reviews. Other aspects of the environment, such as the overall atmosphere or customer service, received mixed feedback. One reviewer mentioned that "some of the workers are super nice," while others have been "very rude," suggesting inconsistency in the staff's demeanor and potentially impacting the overall customer experience.

The services offered at Mean Street Tattoo include both tattooing and piercing. Experiences with the piercing services, as detailed by one reviewer, were largely negative. This customer reported multiple instances of piercings being done incorrectly, including an eyebrow piercing placed too low and a belly button piercing that was actually pierced into the stomach and was crooked. The studio admitted the belly button piercing was "terribly done" and offered a re-piercing (which was still crooked) but not a refund. This raises concerns about the skill and precision of at least one piercer at the studio, identified as Molly by the reviewer. In terms of tattooing, one customer had a negative experience where their tattoo was done "way too deep," resulting in severe scabbing and scarring despite attempts at proper aftercare. This tattoo was reportedly done by an artist named Lou. On a more positive note, another reviewer had a successful tattoo experience with an artist named Kayla, whose work healed perfectly with no peeling. This suggests that the quality of tattoo services may vary depending on the specific artist.

Several features of Mean Street Tattoo can be identified from the reviews, both positive and negative. A potentially positive feature is the reported sterility of the environment, which is crucial for minimizing the risk of infection. However, a significant area of concern is the inconsistency in the quality of both piercing and tattoo services, as evidenced by the botched piercings and the deeply tattooed and scarred artwork. Another feature highlighted is the reportedly "minuscule" and "outdated" aftercare tips provided by the studio. Proper aftercare is essential for the healing and longevity of tattoos and piercings, and inadequate or incorrect advice can lead to complications. The need for customers to know specific questions to ask to get necessary information, and even then having their questions brushed past, indicates a potential lack of proactive and comprehensive guidance from the staff. The variability in the friendliness of the staff, with some being "super nice" and others "very rude," also stands out as a feature that could significantly impact a customer's overall satisfaction. The mention of "questionable things" heard about multiple artists outside of their artistic work, while not directly related to the services, might be a point of concern for some potential clients regarding the overall professionalism and reputation of the studio.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Mean Street Tattoo based on the provided text. Local users considering this studio would need to rely on the mixed reviews and potentially contact the studio directly to inquire about pricing, artist portfolios, and current aftercare practices. Given the significant negative experiences reported by one reviewer, it would be prudent for potential clients to ask detailed questions about the artists' experience and qualifications, specifically regarding the types of procedures they are interested in. Inquiring about their sterilization procedures and requesting detailed aftercare instructions upfront would also be advisable. Due to the conflicting feedback, any potential promotions offered by the studio should be weighed against the reported inconsistencies in service quality and customer experience.

In conclusion, for local users in Wood River, Illinois, searching for "Tattoo Shops Near Me," Mean Street Tattoo at 153 E Ferguson Ave presents a complex picture based on the available reviews. While one reviewer praised the sterility of the environment and had a positive tattooing experience with Kayla, another detailed multiple negative experiences with both piercing (allegedly by Molly) and tattooing (by Lou), citing incorrectly done piercings, a deeply scarred tattoo, and inadequate aftercare advice. The inconsistency in staff friendliness was also noted. Potential clients should be aware of these mixed reviews and exercise caution. It is strongly recommended to thoroughly research the portfolios of individual artists at the studio, ask detailed questions about their experience and techniques, and inquire specifically about their sterilization and aftercare procedures before making a decision. The significant negative experiences reported by one customer should be carefully considered alongside the positive feedback for a specific artist. Without any specific promotional information, potential customers must rely on their own research and direct communication with the studio to assess if Mean Street Tattoo meets their individual needs and expectations.

I highly recommend NOT going here and am always shocked at how many great reviews they have. My friends and I have come here for multiple piercings and tattoos and are rarely satisfied. We’ve had multiple piercings done incorrectly- my eyebrow piercing was too low on my eyelid and had to be removed. Also, my friend got a belly button piercing here, except they pierced into her stomach (not in the belly button at all), and it was crooked. She went back a couple days later and they admitted that the piercing was terribly done. She couldn’t get a refund but they said they’d re-pierce it for her, so she accepted. The piercing was redone, it’s better now, but is still crooked. My other friend was tattooed way too deep, so her entire tattoo scabbed terribly (she tried to keep it very moisturized but it was a lost cause). It’s fully healed at this point, and is almost entirely scarred and doesn’t look quite right. Their aftercare tips are always minuscule and a lot of the tips I’ve been given are outdated and no longer recommended by most tattooers/piercers. You have to know what questions to ask to get the info you need, and even then, they brush past the questions a lot. Some of the workers are super nice, some of them have been very rude. I have also heard a number of questionable things about multiple artists here (not related to their art, but their actions and affiliations outside of work). I believe my eyebrow and the botched belly button piercings were done by Molly. The scarred tattoo was done by Lou. The place does seem pretty sterile, but I think that’s honestly the only good thing I can say. I advise finding somewhere else

My picture doesn't do it justice. It healed perfectly, not even any peeling. Kayla did this one. She was professional, really nice. And hilarious. I definitely recommend this place and her without a doubt!

Jeremy was the best! My tattoo looked better than what I was even expecting. My girlfriend is getting a tattoo this week because of it. I will be going back soon for more work!

It’s a damn shame that people, especially business professionals don’t consider their clientele’s time. I have been so excited to get this tattoo to honor my son that passed away in July 2022 and I will not be getting it done again today. I’ve been to Kayla before and think she does great work but my time is just as important as hers. I paid my $50 deposit as requested. Kayla canceled the first appointment. Second appointment, I drove 54 miles and arrived on time. There were two walk ins in her chair. Tattoo’s not started, imagines not placed on either one of their bodies. And I’m told it will be an hour. Seriously?!?! That’s my sign that she is not the one for this incredible personal piece. I asked for my deposit back and while I got that, she never even came to the counter to speak with me or apologize for that matter.
