Awesome shop with amazing artist. I got tattooed by Michael and he is incredible. I told him the concept of what I wanted and he designed something so much better than I could have even imagined. The shop is super clean and I loved the music selection too. I will definitely be back for more pieces. Michael also has his own personal flash list out and there are so many great pieces that I want to get.

Walked in on a whim with my boyfriend and his best friend and couldn’t be happier with the vibes, staff and results. 10/10 recommend. Nicholas is the shit.

This review is based on Takashi and not his staff nor his very capable assistant Kenneth. I am heavily tattooed and for a long time I planned to get a tebori tattoo. After years of searching I came across Behind the Circle. I had a consult with Takeshi back in August of this year and made an appointment for October 12. I showed up to my appointment to be told it was canceled. I requested my deposit back which was returned but the lack of professionalism on behalf of Takeshi left a searing impression. Not to mention that he had his assistant communicate on his behalf the whole time. My appointment was literally canceled as I traveled almost three hours to Bushwick Brooklyn, where the trains are super screwed up on the weekends. I suspect this m.o. is common with this gentleman. Save your time and money and go to Flyrite Tattoos and hire Monji who’s also an expert in tebori tattoos but very professional. Takashi could have handled things differently by canceling ahead time or by calling himself. The message here is that he chose to be careless.
